Baking Powder Biscuits


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. TRK Cream of Tartar
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup milk

Preparation

Preheat oven to 450°F. Sift the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. With your fingers or fork, quickly rub shortening into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the mixture and add milk. Stir with a fork until dough comes together. Turn onto lightly floured surface and knead by patting dough flat and folding in half several times. Pat dough ½ inch thick and cut biscuit using a 2½ inch cutter. Bake on ungreased baking sheet for 10-15 minutes..
